To Sunny South Florida
We imagine you are reading this section because either you just moved into our area or are contemplating such a move.
Welcome….this part of the website is designed to make it easier for you and your pet get assimilated as quickly to our area as possible. This area has much to offer the human species of animals. Whether you are interested in the weather, travel, exploring, sports, culture, South Florida should be able to fill the need. The other species may need help in adjusting.
The hot weather, the inability to use the various park systems as much as you may have in a different area of the country, or the new set of pet problems makes it a necessity for you as a pet owner to be up date on all the indigenous problems in our area.
MOVING IN?

The
Wiles Road and Cypress Wood Animal Hospitals offer a free day boarding and a
free pet identification tag when you mention that you saw this offer when you
come in for your first physical examination. It is certainly a good idea to get
acquainted with a veterinarian in the area, before an emergency can happen and
to know that your veterinarian will be there in your time of need.
Explanation:
You don’t want your pet to get hurt while movers are bringing furniture into
your home, perhaps leaving the door open, wherein your pet can get lost the
first day down to our area. Make it safe for you and your pet, and at the same
time get acquainted with a veterinary service, that provides that neighborly
touch with personalized full service veterinary care. Click

PET FRIENDLY EVENTS:

Public events have become more pet friendly in nature. Take a look at the Coral Springs Dog Day Run and Kids’ Dog Show and even Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park, a recreation area for the dog enthusiast. There are cat and pet shows that run through out the year. Contact our community calendar listed under veterinary services for up to date information.
COUNTY REQUIREMENTS:
It
is the law for you to get your dog or cat vaccinated for rabies and licensed
yearly down in Broward and Palm Beach County. Speak to your veterinarian to
arrange this. Your rabies tag will be issued as your veterinarian. This serves
as the tag and dog license all in one. Many a time the local animal control has
tracked a lost dog, simply because they were wearing their rabies tag. Although
other vaccines are not required by law, talk to your veterinarian to get the up
to date information as it relates to vaccine recommendations as well as parasite
control issues, realizing in our sub tropical environment this always represents
a concern.
The
counties tend to have animal control officers that take care of stray animal
problems and they should be called if this presents a problem when you move in.
Their numbers are the following:
Broward County Animal Control 954-359-1313 x223
Palm Beach Animal Control 561-233-1200
The Humane Society of Broward County has a myriad of programs, but will not take in strays as that is the jurisdiction of the county animal control. To contact them and to find out the myriad of programs they conduct call at 954- 463-4870
Every
local municipality may have their own animal control officer that has
jurisdiction of pet related problems within their own town. The Coral Springs
Humane Officer is under the Police Department and can be reached through their
non emergency number of 954-344-1800. We suggest if there is a need contact your
local Police Department to see if there is a similar position in that town.
