Darryl Schumaker - Hospital Manager at VCA Wiles Road Animal Hospital and VCA Cypress Wood Animal Hospital
Darryl Schumaker joined our family as Hospital Manager in 2003. We’d like to introduce him to you and let you know a few things about him. We consider ourselves fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him and are very excited about the future of our hospital with Darryl now in the picture.
The youngest of 3 boys, Darryl spent most of his childhood growing up in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.S. in Business and Economics from Central Michigan University in 1988 where he was President of an honorary economics fraternity.
Darryl has over 15 years of varied management experience. Upon graduation, Darryl moved to Washington, D.C. where he was Office Manager, Constituent Service Liaison and Internship Coordinator for a United States Congressman. After 5 years on Capitol Hill he went to work as Office Manager and Senior Producer for the Emmy award winning political talk shows “The McLaughlin Group” and “McLaughlin One on One”. More recently, Darryl was Director of The International Summit of Young Technology Leaders, Director of Operations for The National Environmental Policy Institute and Owner/Operator of a diner in Key West, Florida.
In the role of Practice Manager, Darryl lends support for any customer service issues as well as helping our facility run more smoothly. With the many experiences in varied work environments that Darryl has had over the course of his career, we just know that he’ll be a valuable member of our team. A big component of his day consists of providing help to our staff for any human resource activity so that they can concentrate on their task at hand in helping your pets.
In his spare time Darryl enjoys spending time with his dog at Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park, renovating his home, reading and getting involved in community activities. He also enjoys traveling to Europe and Southeast Asia.
Darryl and his family lives in Margate with his very spoiled Miniature Pincher "D.O.G", his Rat Terrier "Reagan" and his 2 cats "Sasha" & "C.A.T.". He is happy to call South Florida his home.
